Important Information about
Upgrading to Release 1.6.
With Release 1.6, we have added some additional fields
to the database. The first time you run OfficeAdmin.exe, the program
detects if you have an older database and asks if you want it to be
upgraded.
During our internal testing of the upgrade process, we
ran into one installation where it was not possible to upgrade the
database to the Release 1.6. The problem appears to be related to
security issues with Windows 2000 which prevent access to the components
we need. At this time we do not have a good solution.
If you experience this same
problem, you will not be able to upgrade an existing database.
You will have to download and perform a full install of The Office
Manager. When you do this, the installation program will ask if you want
to overwrite the file nsgoffice.mdb, and you must answer YES. This will
replace your database with the standard blank database in the new
format. It will also replace all the data in your existing database,
including employees and timesheets. You will also need to reenter your
registration number if you have a licensed copy of The Office Manager. You
should attempt an upgrade of an existing database to Release 1.6 ONLY
if you are willing to re-enter all the data in the database.
