If
it isnt broke, don't dont fix it.
THE
CHALLENGE |
Koen Pacific is a classic
example of, If it aint broke, dont fix it. They overcame the grave mistake of their former owner with
the help of TOM Software. This
company has risen from the ashes of their parent company, Pacific Pipeline, to
achieve great success.
Pacific Pipeline was a book
distributor that used TOM products and built a very successful company.
The transactional based system was simple, effective and most
important, dependable. Their
clients knew they could trust Pacific Pipeline to deliver their orders on
time and correctly. The owner
had reached a status that most of us would love to be in, the company was
so successful that he could hire others to run the company and he could
enjoy life. Unfortunately for
him, the dream backfired.
His new director of IS
convinced him that they needed to change software, and they purchased a
competitors package. Why a
successful company felt it necessary to change the foundation of their
company is a mystery, but that was their decision.
What was even worse was the time of year they decided to make the
change; November, right before the holidays.
The successful and busy company implemented their new system and
watched in disbelief as the new system would not work correctly.
Employees tried to get the system running but could not process
orders or make shipments. The end result was a company unable to deliver product
during the busy holiday season. Within
a few months they were out of business with employees wondering what to
do.
The former employees made the simple decision of
returning to what had made the company successful, they rebuilt their new
foundation on the strength and dependability of TOM Software. They changed the name to Koen Pacific and have enjoyed
success ever since. It was
not easy returning to their former position starting from the ground up.
But with the help of TOM Software and the committed Employees of
Koen Pacific, its as if they have never missed a beat. |
