Recommended System Requirements

SPEED® will run on Windows and Linux/Unix platforms.

SPEED® is a low impact program which uses very little RAM memory and only as much Hard Drive space as the databases need as they grow in size with the data.

SPEED®  runs on ADP/Kerridge KCML and the only service which is required is TCP/IP.

The KCML Language uses approx 20Mb of Hard Drive space and creates 3 new services "out of the box". It also uses at least 1 port of your choosing for a web based manager and for the Client/Server communications. It is a 32-bit program and should be run on a 32-bit (or higher) platform.

The SPEED® 7.x database utilities and applications (based on our large demo system with 15 unique applications) takes approx 125Mb of hard drive space. User files would be added on top of this number.

We recommend the following for the Server:

bullet1 Gb RAM memory (of course, the more the better), adding about 10 Mb of RAM  memory for each GUI user/session or 1 Mb of RAM memory for each Text user/session

bullet2 hard drives (for recommended mirroring) of at least 100 Gb (depending on how large the databases will grow to)

bulletWindows 2000 or higher, or Linux/Unix (Windows Server is NOT required)

bulleta fast TCP/IP network (you do not want people waiting around for communication between server and client)

We recommend the following for the Client:

bullet1 Gb RAM memory (of course, the more the better)

bullet1 hard drive with at least 10 Mb of hard drive space

bulletWindows 98 SE or higher, or Linux/Unix (Windows is NOT required)

bulleta fast TCP/IP network (you do not want people waiting around for communication between server and client)

Currently, we do have the following examples of EndUsers running on:

bullet25 users running 3 sessions each on Windows XP on a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 single core with 1 Gb RAM and an 80 Gb hard drive.

bullet128 users running about 60-70 users at any given time using about 400 Mb of RAM memory on a dual-processor Linux system

Kerridge recommends the following for KPrint:

bulletA PC running Windows 98 SE or higher, or Citrix NT3.51 or higher. Depending on the amount of printing, a dedicated machine should be considered

bulletAt least 32Mb RAM memory. If large print jobs are being printed, more memory may be required

bullet1 hard drive with at least 10 Mb of hard drive space. Again, if large print jobs are being printed, a larger hard drive may be needed for the Print Spool

bulleta fast TCP/IP network (you do not want people waiting around for communication between server and client)

bulletA laser printer, preferably connected directly to the TCP/IP network, and NOT using a low-bandwidth connection
