TOM Software is on the Move!

TOM Software is proud to announce that the company is returning to the software scene under new ownership and is already making waves.

Since the Eighties, Northwest Source Group, NSG has been the behind the scenes creative force of the TOM product line. Soon after NSG was founded in 1986, they began development on enhanced versions of the SPEED product,  known as SPEED 2.5. This same product was developed for CAYLX Software, the non NA license holder for TOM products and was named COMMAND outside of North America. Here it became known as the CAYLX Enhancements to SPEED.

The SPEED product line was developed specifically for the Wang computers and was getting difficult to migrate and enhance, so in 1988 NSG began work on a replacement product for the SPEED product line. The development staff at NSG were largely the very same people who wrote the original product.   NSG agreed to a royalty deal with the old TOM Software, to maintain, and continue to develop and support the Basic product line.

NSG strongly believes in the TOM product line and continued to support, enhance and develop it. Charlie Knox, one of the original programmers, knew that with a little diligence and their steadfast commitment, NSG's endeavors could succeed. "It was simply a really great product", and NSG remained committed, however, contractual change was needed.

This year NSG reached an  agreement with TOM Software to purchase the entire company and its remaining assets, including the entire TOM SPEED product lines. This means TOM Software, under new ownership, is vigorously ready to re-establish itself as leading provider of business software.

As of January 1999,   TOM Software, the authors and distributor of the SPEED and FourD product lines, has been injected with a new excitement and passion for the future.   Original programmers  Charlie Knox, Dave Eken and Jim Odland, have infected TOM Software with the innovative spirit that made SPEED an industry leader. While under NSG’s leadership Speed’s replacement product FourD was created.  Now with new management and all the software rights under the TOM Software roof, the company is ready for an all out offensive on the accounting, manufacturing, and distribution software markets.
