Overview

KPrint is a software print manager that will allow you to replace pre-printed stationery with laser printers and blank paper. It will provide professional looking output from your system and can actually save you money in the long term.

Basically, KPrint accepts plain text from your system and outputs professional quality forms to a laser printer.

The KPrint system consists of three separate programs:

bulletThe forms editor
bulletThe print server
bulletThe administrator

The editor is the tool used to design KPrint forms - this is a WYSIWYG designer that allows TOM to create professional looking forms with the minimum of effort for you.

The print server runs in the background (as a service) listening for incoming print requests. When it receives a request to print data, it determines the form to use and then spools the print job to a normal Windows printer.

The administrator is used to create and manage print queues and faxes and remotely administer other KPrint servers on your network.

KPrint is designed to receive ASCII print data.  KPrint will search ASCII for special commands (known as triggers) in order to decipher which form to print . In addition to printing forms, you can also send forms to users via fax or email.
